These early September days are so familiar to me. They remind me of cool mornings and heavy sweaters worn on the way to school. By afternoon the low clouds would have cleared away, and it was always a hot walk back home with the bulky sweater tied around my waist. Today was like that, but the morning clouds didn’t deter the Farmer’s Market crowd. With the end of summer, farm fresh corn is showing up at the booths, hot peppers and tomatoes too. Many varieties of apples available, but no apple cider yet. We watched a man play
border pipes … a close cousin to the highland bagpipes, and ate Greek food for lunch. The afternoon brought the sun out in full force and if I had had a sweater, I would have tied it around my waist. Unfortunately I was wearing a sweat suit.

Morningstar and Bob,
As I was reading your blog from Sept 2007 I saw a comment by you that wondered if anyone reads you. There followed five people who assured you that they did. And I do as well. I read your stuff a few times a week and am reading your older stuff, too.
Know that I think of you as I recall our years living offshore Key West Florida until our daughter turned seven and needed better schools. We, too, were off the grid completely and carrying our water. We had forearm muscles to spare in those days-I still love to row. Iris grew so strong and healthy…sailing, fishing, swimming in the warmest water anywhere.
I walk with you thru this journey of cancer; my husband and I have each survived a bout with it.
Enjoy your new book and the weather change. We live in the SF Bay Area so our weather is 'remark-able' as well.
Thinking of you,
Lynda M
